Christian Bale and Gillian Anderson now on Netflix in brand new costume drama movie

Netflix has gathered a top cast for The Pale Blue Eye (2022) a brand new costume drama movie about Edgar Allan Poe and the mysterious detective Landor. The streaming service managed to beat multiple interested parties in the bidding war for the movie, which is produced by Cross Creek - the production company from whom Netflix previously bought The Trial of the Chicago 7 (2020). The Pale Blue Eye is now streaming on Netflix.

A Murder

In the movie an attempt is made to solve a series of murders that took place at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1830. Oscar winner Bale reunites with Cooper, director of the western Hostiles (2017) in which Bale also starred, and now takes on the role of veteran detective Augustus Landor who investigates the murders, aided by a young cadet who will later become the world-famous author Edgar Allan Poe.

The role of Augustus Landor is played by Christian Bale, who we know from the Dark Knight trilogy and from movies such as The Big Short (2015) and The Machinist (2004). The role of author Edgar is played by Harry Melling, who we know as Harry Potter's nephew Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter series and who recently appeared in Netflix productions The Queen's Gambit (2020) and The Devil All the Time (2020). Emmy winner Gillian Anderson, known from The Fall (2013–2016), among others, also makes an appearance.
